The patented DPR solution replaces an entire sewer collection system while simultaneously installing a separate conduit system that establishes a ubiquitous local fiber network.
Renaissance's DPR solution is based upon trenchless pipe bursting methods: A winch drags a pipe bursting head through existing pipe, shattering it and pulling behind it a new long-life leak-proof high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe. The HDPE pipe is resistant to abrasion and impervious to microbiological or chemical corrosion, with an estimated life well in excess of 70 years.
Characteristics of the DPR solution:
- Complete pipeline and lateral rehabilitation that limits externalities
- Pipe joined by heat fusion, producing a leak-free joint, flexible enough to
accommodate small radius curves and resist seismic activity
- Other pipe characteristics include:
- Abrasion resistant molecular structure
- Chemical properties contribute no nutrients to further growth of bacteria
on walls
- Smooth surface contributes to excellent hydraulic flow characteristics
Unique to the DPR solution, up to 8 conduits capable of carrying fiber directly to every building are concurrently installed around the exterior of the new pipe, not inside the sewer pipe. This separate conduit system (i) does not expose the fiber conduit to harmful wastewater and other damaging elements in the sewer system, (ii) allows for easy access to the fiber for servicing, and (iii) allows for the routine cleaning of clogged sewer pipes with traditional methods such as grouting. Fiber is run up to and into every building, creating a complete local fiber network for the entire metro area, which includes all buildings previously lacking "Last Mile" connectivity.
Until now, no one company has presented a single solution to both urban sewer deterioration and the "Last Mile" fiber challenge.
Non sewer related uses: The DPR solution can also be used to rehabilitate water and natural gas pipes.
